“Time Lapse,” second solo show at Craig Krull Gallery, August 23 to October 14. Opening reception: September 6, 4 to 6 pm during the Fall Open at Bergamot Station Arts Center.
“The Journey is the Destination” group show featuring Pamela Smith Hudson Fía Benitez, Aaron Douglas Estrada, Vincent Hernandez, Erick Medel, Debra Scacco, and Marisela Norte, which explores different parts of Los Angeles from a range of perspectives and media (photography, mixed-media pieces, site-specific installations, and sculpture). The works offer new insights into many unrecognized and under-appreciated parts of Los Angeles, which have been historically neglected based on racial, class, or cultural stereotypes. The exhibition seeks to challenge Western colonial ideas of mapping by placing the power to document and share the history of a place with the individuals who live there versus state-sanctioned agencies. The exhibition artists create living documents of their respective parts of Los Angeles, offering alternative ways to think about and reimagine the city we all call home.
